We had a spooktacular day here in Carrakennedy. Lots of scary characters arrived this morning and superheros to save the day!
Thank you for all your effort dressing up. We hope you have a very enjoyable mid-term break.
The senior pupils had great fun this week carving pumpkins for our competition. It was a great success and we were truly impressed by the creativity and effort all the children went to.
We look forward to this being an annual event.
The Junior Room have been having great fun with Poetry since we came back to school. We are learning how to recite poetry using vocalisation Drama. We recited the poem “My Brilliant Friend” by Roger McGough at assembly for the Senior pupils. They were really impressed and thought we were brilliant.
Our favourite poem so far is “When Daddy fell into the Pond”. We decided to create an art display of poor Daddy as he was just about to fall into the pond. We are very proud of our work.
We have been very busy harvesting our fruit and vegetables from our school garden. This year we successfully grew potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, salad leaves, apples, strawberries and various herbs. We made Hummus to try with our carrot, celery and apple crudités. These make a very healthy snack. We picked lots of blackberries and made blackberry and apple jam.
All of our Senior pupils brought home a bag of fresh vegetables from the garden. A huge thank you to Martin Connor for his help and expertise in the garden. We will be closing our garden for the Winter months but look forward to beginning again in the Spring.
