The girls and boys in the senior room took part in the Cumann na mBunscol Mini 7’s competition last week. This year we joined forces with the pupils of Killawalla NS. On Thursday the girls played 2 wonderful matches but unfortunately lost out to the Quay school when the game went to golden score.
On Friday the boys played 4 superb games making it to the final against Brackloon. Unfortunately, it was not their day. We are so proud of them making it to the final. The children are really looking forward to Cumann na mBunscol season next Spring.
We bid farewell to Ms. Connolly our esteemed teacher, colleague and friend after 23 years in Carrakennedy NS. We are delighted to have celebrated Mary’s years in Carrakennedy NS in such a special way. It is a day we will all remember fondly. The children were absolutely outstanding and they really rose to the occasion in giving Ms. Connolly the wonderful send-off she well and truly deserved. Ms. Connolly was blown away by her retirement gathering and she expresses her thanks for the good wishes, warmth and sincerity she received from everyone. Ms. Connolly gifted the school two trees which will be planted in our school garden. We look forward to watching them grow in the years ahead. We wish Ms. Connolly the very best for her next chapter. We will miss you Ms. Connolly and look forward to when you come to visit us.
We had a great day celebrating Ms. Connolly’s birthday this week. A delicious birthday cake, balloons, party poppers, the spins and a fun filled Zumba class with Marcie. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did Ms. Connolly! Wishing you a very Happy Birthday and a wonderful year ahead.
Congratulations to the senior room who took part in a class run today. You were all absolutely brilliant and should be so proud of what you have achieved. The Daily Mile has served you all well and it is wonderful to see how this initiative has improved our running. We look forward to more next year.
What a year we have had- especially the last few weeks- we are most certainly ending on a high! Well done to everyone for working so hard this year. You have all been absolutely wonderful. It is time to bid farewell to our amazing 6th class pupils- Chloe, Ciara, Darragh, Emma and Maria. Whilst we are very sad to say goodbye we know that you are all ready for the next step of your journey. We wish you all the very best in secondary school and look forward to you visiting us in the future. The senior room pupils joined the pupils of Drummin NS today for a trip to Old Head Beach. on our arrival we picked up some litter as part of the Green Schools Beach Clean initiative. We had great fun foraging and exploring the seashore. After lunch we enjoyed paddling and playing games. Well done everyone.

The day we have all been waiting for. After an eleven year absence the girls of Carrakennedy NS have brought home the cup to Carrakennedy NS after beating Craggagh NS in the county final. What an exciting and thrilling game- exceptional performances in every position from goalie to the last sub. We are immensely proud of you girls and are so delighted that you have achieved your goal. Massive congratulations to you all. Míle Buíochas to Martin Conway- you have been an unbelievable mentor and coach to the girls and we are so lucky to have you. You were with the girls every step of the way. Thank you also to the wonderful supporters- Mammies, Daddies, brothers, sisters, grannies, grandads, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends- having you there with us made it even more special. Well done girls- you are superstars. What a day and what a celebration. The photos tell the tale of a day we will never forget.
Another great day for the girls of Carrakennedy who played Binghamstown in the Cumann na mBunscol semi-final today at the Centre of Excellence in Bekan. What an outstanding performance girls you were brilliant and we are all really excited about the final next Tuesday. We know you can do it.We decided to make a day of it and called into the Basilica on the way home! We also dropped into the library in Westport. Another great day on the road!
What a day at the Pat Cox hurling blitz- our wonderful boys won the shield. They played their hearts out and never gave up winning all their matches. A huge thank you to Oisín and Roseleen for all coaching us over the past few weeks and helping us today. We are absolutely delighted. Such a great achievement.
