We welcomed our 6 incoming junior infants to the school this week for a few hours with Ms. Hester. The boys and girls did some beautiful colouring, played with toys, listened to a story and even got a tour of the school. We look forward to welcoming Aaron, Daisy, Luke, Richie, Sive and Tommie. to Carrakennedy on 28th August for their first day of Big school. We hope you have many happy years in our school. We had a lovely celebration on Thursday to bid farewell to our wonderful 6th class pupils – Anna, Aoife, David, Ethan, Lauren, Lucy and Ryan. They have been a super sixth class and we will miss them dearly next year. We would like to wish them the very best for the years ahead. We also celebrated our amazing duo in 2nd class- Evie and James who graduated from the junior room and are ready for the challenge of the senior room. Ms. McPaul is very excited to welcome you both in next September. Our 3 Senior infants also celebrated the end of their 2 year Aistear programme. They were presented with their scrapbooks of memories from their time in junior and senior infants. The junior room treated us to some beautiful singing and the senior room children performed some great music on their ukuleles ending the year on a high. Well done and thank you to our wonderful parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who came to celebrate with us. Pop over to the gallery to see more photos from the celebration.
The senior room had an absolutely brilliant day at Emerald Park on Monday. We had some very brave children who rode on the Cú Chulainn, Na Fianna Force, The Quest, Dino Dash, Flight School and not forgetting the carousel. We were bleed with the weather and were thrilled we did not have to wait in long queues for the rides. It was such an amazing adventure. Well done to all pupils who represented the school so well on the day.
The whole school had a fantastic day on Clare Island last Friday. We are extremely thankful to Clare Island for inviting us again this year. The Junior room had a busy day playing games, visiting the playground and building sandcastles on the beach whilst the senior room played in the football blitz. Congratulations to our team for winning the Roger Casement cup for a second year in a row. We are so proud of you all. We look forward to this day again next year.

The Junior room had a great day in Westport House for their school tour. We really enjoyed the new net adventure park and the interactive gaming. We had a delicious picnic and finished the day with a trip to the Harbour Stores for a treat. We were all exhausted after our fun day out!
We had a fantastic day last Friday for our Sports Day. This year we worked in team and really enjoyed it. We ran our races as usual and enjoyed some co-operative games together. We were thrilled when we heard the music of the ice-cream van coming. Thank you to Bernadette for the delicious BBQ and to Jack and Eddies for sponsoring the sausages for all. Thankfully the weather stayed dry for the day. We look forward to more fun activities over the next few weeks.
Well done to both our girls and boys teams today who played their hearts out in Islandeady for the quarter finals of the Cumann na mBunscol. Unfortunately, it was not to be for either team today. We would like to congratulate Errew girls and Crimlin boys teams and wish them the very best in the semi-finals. We look forward to our next football outing on Clare Island in June. A huge thank you to Martin Conway, Pat Gavin and Joe Dawson for coaching the teams to such a high standard and to all our supporters who came to cheer for us on the day.
Congratulations to our first and second class pupils who made their First Holy Communion this weekend. It was a beautiful celebration enjoyed by everyone. A huge thank you to Ms Hester for all she did to make it so special for the children. We had a great gathering back at the school after mass. We are so thankful to our wonderful parent body for organising this. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful community in Carrakennedy NS.
We have been working collaboratively over the past few weeks to complete a 500-piece puzzle of The Cliffs of Moher. It was a tedious task which took a lot of teamwork and patience. We are so proud of the finished product and look forward to framing it and hanging it in the school. We will now begin working on our 1000-piece puzzle and hope to have it completed by 22nd June!
